Introducing the PicoPaso

The PicoPaso is a stepped tone noise noise synth by Dr. Bleep.
It’s similar to the Atari Punk synth, aka Forrest Mims’ stepped tone generator, but uses two triangle wave oscillators that can be combined or used separately. A wave shaper and square wave LFO can be used to increase the aural ridiculousness.

The kit was designed for Handmade Music Austin and will be the beginner workshop for our fifth event on February 28th.There are still some seats available if you’d like to sign up for the advanced class, Wooster’s Space Baby digital delay.

Shipping update and Handmade #4

The full release of the Thingamagoop 2 will be at the beginning of February. At that time we can begin shipping orders within two business days! Email Dr.Bleep to get on our mailing list or follow us on twitter.

At Handmade Music Austin this Sunday we’ll be building the Nebulophone, an Arduino based synth with a Stylophone like keyboard. It has adjustable waveforms, a light controlled analog filter, LFO, and arpeggiator that can be clocked over IR.

Here’s a quick sample of some of the features.

EAST + Handmade Music Austin #2

Update : The Saturday exhibition is not going to happen do to scheduling problems but Dr. Bleep and Eric Archer will still be performing at the Austin Artistic Reconstruction warehouse around 3pm.
Handmade music is also going ahead as planned. Checkout the full line up here.

Update: There are ten seats available for the free beginner class and eight for the upper division. They are first come first serve so get there early!

Sunday will be the second Handmade Music Austin. The upper division class is filled but there should be some space at the beginner class. Even if there aren’t any seats available, there will be plenty of stuff there to see and noise nerds to talk to!

Noon – Gallery space opens. Bleep Labs, Eric archer, and friends interactive exhibit.
4 pm – Free beginner class
6 pm – Upper division synth class $45 at door

The Thingamagoop has a stereo 1/8″ jack on the side to facilitate control voltage in and out. You can make your own cable very simply or order a nice, shielded one from us. Here’s Dr. Bleep and his band, The Hearts and the Minds, using the Thingamagoop 2 to control a Moog Prodigy (CV out of Thingamagoop 2 to the osc in of Prodigy).

4ms Pedals, Eric archer, and Dr. Bleep are proud to announce Handmade Music Austin! Starting October 15th at Salvage Vanguard Theater in collaboration with CoFG, we will be offering monthly workshops in they style of Handmade Music.

We’ll have free soldering, bending and DIY noise classes, as well as workshops to build our forthcoming Andromeda Space Rocker kits. Early sign-ups for classes will start soon so stay tuned!

SXSW is here again and Bleep Labs aims to make it noisy.
This Saturday the 14th you can see us at the Dorkbot show in Brush Square park at 6 and our MakeMusic TalkMusic event at Beauty Bar at 10. Both shows are free and have free booze, an important part of SXSW and noise music alike.
On the 16th you can catch Dr. Bleep at Plutopia, “The Biggest SXSWi Party!”
More shows to come….

Speaking of festivals, Bleep Labs will be appearing at Bent NYC for the 3rd year in a row. Be there, April 16-18!
Here’s a clip of my performance from last year. Expect at least a 27% increase in sonic insanity this year.
